Mindful Bodywork - Shiatsu and Mindful Inquiry
I am also a shiatsu practitioner, I trained for 4 years for my shiatsu diploma and my postgraduate training.
I have been practicing shiatsu for 10 years now and I see it as part of my mindfulness practice.
Shiatsu originated in Japan and is a form of gentle therapeutic body work. I connect to the body through palm and finger pressure, rotations and gentle stretches. Shiatsu allows you to rest deeply helping you to reconnect with your body and relax into stillness. When we bring awareness back into the body and meet it with compassion this helps to free up often deeply held stress leaving you feeling grounded, calm and rested.
I incorporate mindful inquiry into the sessions, helping you to become more self aware about your experience and to develop a sense of understanding. This can help you to move forward and transform. All shiatsu sessions with me are different depending on how you are and what you want. For example in an hour session there may be 30 minutes of bodywork and 30 minutes of mindful inquiry or 40 minutes of bodywork and 20 minutes of mindful inquiry. It really depends on what you would like to explore each session.
Carla-Jo specialises in helping people to manage and release stress and anxiety.
1 hour sessions are £45.
I am really excited to now be offering 90 minute mindfulness and shiatsu sessions! For the hour we will look out how you can incorporate mindfulness and compassion practices into your life to help support you. If you already have a practice we look at how you can develop it. I will guide you through some meditations and then for the final 30 minutes you can rest into some nourishing and insightful shiatsu bodywork. This will usually be £70 but until June 30th I will be offering it for £60!
I offer 2 concessionary places a month. Please get in contact if you would like to know more.
I work in central Bath and Midsomer Norton
Below is a poem that I wrote expressing my experience of shiatsu.
Shiatsu
My heart begins to soften,
I recognise where I am,
An opportunity to express,
A time for non-judgment,
Kindness and compassion surrounds.
I step into connection with the breath,
A sense of flow arises,
A deep grounding and stillness settles within.
Perhaps a realisation or an acceptance,
A deep knowing of support.
Journeying into my body and mind.
Meeting both strength and vulnerability,
Seeing the pain and joy of life,
Acknowledgement of what is,
Being present with all experience.
Contraction and expansion,
Stretch, rotate, move, feel,
Opening to abundant vitality.
Reconnecting to myself and life,
Awakening well-being within.
